And great minds definitely produce great work the singers debut single quickly became a Top 30 tune. While the song was penned close to eight years ago and was held by several artists wanting to cut it, it was Gibson who took a chance on the love ballad and made it what it has become today.

Jim and I had only written one other song before this one, Pinson tells Taste of Country. It was a really good one that went on my second album. Jim and I are two different kinds of songwriters, but we have a real good hybrid thing together. I had the title in my little book of hooks. There were two titles that I had: You Make Me Wanna Make You Love Me and You Were Everything I Never Knew I Always Wanted. Both of them had the same little dance. I brought it up, and he said he liked it.

You make me wanna buy a rose / You make me wanna shine my shoes / Baby you make me wanna dance / Better than I do / You make me wanna be a man / Who makes you laugh and makes you proud / Wanna be everything you need / You make me wanna make you love me, they wrote in the songs chorus.

I t really dance guys dont dance, but they will dance if the girl is right, Pinson says, smiling. I had this line once where the guy says, m not much of a dancer, and she says, Well it aint much of a song, point being: were still going to dance. I was kind of writing that out into our story, just trying to paint that picture that you do things you normally wouldnt want to do just to be doing something with the person you are falling in love with. I think thats all of us. I think this song has really rung true to a lot of folks.

Girl Im not poetry / Im not the finest wine / But Ill toast to you and me / And Ill try to make it rhyme / Ill learn your favorite song / Stand in the yard with my guitar / And sing outside your window all night long, they wrote in the second verse to Wanna Make You Love Me.

Jim probably made this song lighter than I would have if I had written it by myself, says Pinson of penning the lyrics. I think the combination of the melody and the lyric made this thing heavy enough to mean something, but light enough to be on radio. It was a song that got overlooked and overlooked, and was on hold all over town eight years ago. It was one of those songs that I just thought got away and I wondered why it never happened for somebody. Then out of nowhere, I heard, Hey have you heard your new single on Andy Gibson? Low and behold, he believed in it and radio believes in him. Its been interesting to watch the life of this song. I think it was a naturally good fit of an artist and song.

Pinson adds of Wanna Make You Love Me, I always say that a good song will find its home someday, good Lord willing.

From www.andygibson.com
Wed, 20 Jun 2012 15:10:00 -0700http://www.andygibson.com/news/84691Summer Back by Andy Gibson Now Available on iTunes and Amazon
Andy Gibson's second single Summer Back can now be purchased on Apple iTunes and Amazon Mp3. Not all make it, obviously.

Some are just "Lookin' for a Good Time" and some lost their grip on "Reality" a long time ago, but plenty of others are "Country Strong" enough to find a "Home" in Nashville.

For as much love as country fans are willing to give their favorite stars, though, it's not easy join the club. New artists are always "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow."

Here are 11 new artists currently hoping to find a pot of solid country gold at that rainbow's end.

Josh Abbott Band

A solid Texas outfit with a loyal following, the Josh Abbott Band have been touring the Lone Star state and beyond for more than a decade. With a smooth vocal style backed by crunchy guitars as often as traditional country instruments, they walk the line between contemporary and roots music. Their video for "She's Like Texas" is currently playing on CMT Pure, while "Touch" arrived on your radio dial five weeks ago.

Wade Bowen

Bowen has been a regular on the Red Dirt scene since 2002 when he released his first album in Texas. Since then, he's offered four more discs, one of which, If We Ever Make It Home, peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard country albums chart and No. 2 on the trade publication's regional Heatseekers list. The project gained notoriety through Bowen's unflinching account of his wife's struggle with post-partum depression in the song "Turn on the Lights." His current single, "Saturday Night," is hovering near the Top 40 on the country songs chart.

The Farm

A diverse trio founded in Nashville in 2010, the Farm rely on distinctive three-part harmonies and the spirited fiddling of Nick Hoffman to produce its modern-sounding, arena-minded country music. Their country core is undeniable, but the three musicians each bring elements of other genres of music to the project, as well, such as Damien Horne's R&B influenced vocal and Krista Marie's pop sensibility. Their first single, "Home Sweet Home," is at No. 38 on Billboard's country songs chart.

Andy Gibson

Gibson is a fresh-faced singer who was plucked out of a gig singing in a Mexican restaurant by John Rich. Originally from the Northwestern U.S. and later Las Vegas, he found success in Nashville last year by co-writing Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson's smash hit, "Don't You Wanna Stay." His own music is also gaining a foothold, as his sentimental "Wanna Make You Love Me" rises to No. 33 on the country songs chart and earns a place in the CMT Pure rotation.

Casey James

Casey James didn't even know what American Idol was when he decided to audition for the hit talent show. Luckily, that didn't stop him from placing third on the program's ninth season. A talented guitar player with Texas roots (not to mention a great head of hair), James mixes soul and blues into his country stew, especially on his steamy "Let's Don't Call It a Night." The track is climbing toward the Top 10 on the country songs chart right now, and his debut album is scheduled to be released later this month.

Jana Kramer

Kramer looks to parlay her on-camera experience playing Alex on the hit TV show One Tree Hill into a successful singing career. She's so serious about it, in fact, she got the director to change her One Tree Hill character into an aspiring singer, as well. Her first single, "Why Ya Wanna," is currently playing on CMT and revolves around a girl who keeps running into an ex -- one who is already over their relationship despite her reluctance to let go. It makes it to No. 34 on the songs chart this week.

Dustin Lynch

A Tennessee native -- he grew up about an hour south of Nashville -- Dustin Lynch is no stranger to the ways of Music City. Discovering Nashville's songwriting haven the Bluebird Caf is what got him started, while performers like Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson inspired his style. With an authoritative voice and a stoic demeanor, he's making a strong first impression with "Cowboys and Angels," his debut single from Broken Bow records. Viewers recently voted it up to No. 7 on CMT Pure's 12-Pack Countdown, while radio listeners have run it up to No. 37 on the country songs chart.

Kip Moore

Add another Georgian to the list country newcomers. Kip Moore arrives with "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck," a feel-good summertime anthem praising stories that start out with a four-wheel drive and a farmer's field. The track is Moore's second single (after last year's "Mary Was the Marrying Kind") and has revved all the way up to No. 22 on the songs chart so far.

Thomas Rhett

Son of hit songwriter Rhett Akins ("Honey Bee," "Take a Back Road"), Thomas Rhett picked up the family trade and started out by writing "I Ain't Ready to Quit" for Jason Aldean's platinum-certified My Kinda Party album. His own music sticks close to the pickup trucks, beer and girls theme as he makes his debut with the lusty-but-silly "Something to Do With My Hands." In only its fourth week at radio, "Something to Do" is rising through No. 46.

Canaan Smith

Born in Virginia and educated in Nashville -- he graduated from Belmont University, just like Brad Paisley and Trisha Yearwood -- Canaan Smith makes a strong first impression with "We Got Us," a sweetly-contented tune about the power of love. Mixing his country with a little bit of laid-back beach flavor, Smith's melodies are very catchy and not always predictable. You may recognize him as a former contestant on The Amazing Race. "We Got Us" is currently at No. 49 in its fifth week on the chart.

Tyler Farr

Tyler Farr is a young singer-songwriter who really knows what he's talking about. His newest song just arrived on the country songs chart and goes by the name "Hot Mess." An upbeat number about a party girl who dances like no one's watching, plays all the boys like a fiddle and leaves her makeup all over the bathroom counter, Farr should know since he got his start as a bouncer in Broadway's famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. The Missouri native figured that if he showed up every night and kept asking, eventually they would let him onstage, and he was right. Maybe the same strategy will work with your local country station and some of these new songs.

From www.andygibson.com
Mon, 26 Mar 2012 10:50:00 -0700http://www.andygibson.com/news/67931Andy Gibson to Perform at the 2012 ACM Experience In Las Vegas

The ACM EXPERIENCE, a free three-day open-to-the public Country music lifestyle event for fans during the week of the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in LAS VEGAS has announced performers. And as the fourth of five children, you can imagine there would always be noise in the Gibson household in fact there was always music. His dad (John Gibson) was just fourteen when he wrote the theme song for the classic surfing film Endless Summer, and later earned a deal with RCA Records. Whether it was his dads music or Waylon Jennings, sounds were always heard.

Read the rest on www.Opry.com

From www.andygibson.com
Thu, 12 Jan 2012 08:15:00 -0800http://www.andygibson.com/news/56941ANDY GIBSON TO MAKE HIS GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT

Nashville, TN January 4, 2012 Singer and songwriter Andy Gibson will achieve another career milestone when he makes his Grand Ole Opry debut with a performance at Opry At The Ryman this Saturday, January 7 at 7:00pm. Just Not His Debut Single

To say that Andy Gibson grew up around music would be nothing short of an understatement. The singer, currently making noise with his debut single, "Wanna Make You Love Me," recalls how much music had to do with his musical upbringing.

"I think that growing up in my house, music was a big thing," he tells Billboard.com. "My dad was always playing music, and every day he would come home and throw on his favorite records, whether it was something from the 50s or the 60s or the 80s or 90s."

His siblings also contributed to the cause. "My brother my sisters were into music as well, so there was a lot of it around. Then, my brother worked at a record store, and when I was a little kid, I shared a room with him in our first house in California. I think his bed was on egg crates that were full of records. I remember listening to all of his music, and taking the things that I liked about it, and singing along with that stuff when I was a little kid, everything from the Beach Boys to Dwight Yoakam to Depeche Mode. I grew up with so much music around me, that it was hard to not get into something."

At nine years old, Gibson received his first guitar -- a Fender Stratocaster, a gift from his parents. "I was lucky enough to have parents that always encouraged me," he says. "I could make as much noise as I wanted to around the house. They had no problem with me coming home from school and cranking up the amplifier."

Throughout his teenage years, Gibson continued to hone his craft -- playing whenever he had a chance. Once he graduated high school, he decided to move to Nashville. He had an advantage on many other newcomers due to the fact that he could also sing and speak Spanish. That afforded him the opportunity to sing at several Mexican restaurants in Music City, where he caught the attention of John Rich, who signed him to his publishing company. The first year, he turned in 150 songs.

His first major success came with a track that he wrote -- "Don't You Wanna Stay," the crossover hit from Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson. Gibson recalls going to a friends' house to watch the CMA Awards in 2010, where the duo premiered the song.

"I was able to go to some friends' house, and they had an awesome TV set with home theater. It was like being there. In fact, I probably had a better view there than if I had gone to the show. It was such an awesome experience. Everyone was jumping up and down screaming, and I was just kind of soaking it in. It was so surreal. It's just overwhelming to me to hear people singing my song," he says.

Ironically, his debut single is not one that he wrote. "When I heard "Wanna Make You Love Me," it moved me, and it felt like something I had wanted to write. At the same time, I think Nashville has such a deep talent pool that you would be stupid to not look for some of those great songs. It had so many great snapshots of things that I had experienced, and things that I feel. That's why I thought it would be a great song for the first single."

The single was produced by James Stroud, and Gibson says that getting to work with the legendary producer/musician was a thrill.

"It was unbelievable," he said of the recording experience with Stroud. "To be in the studio with somebody like him, he's such a legend. I've been to lunch with him with a radio playing in the background, and I think there was a streak of about five songs in a row that he had played on. To go into the studio with someone like him can be intimidating, but he's such a warm person. I think what has given him the most longevity as a producer is that he tries to find how to make a record more of an artist's record than his. It's been a great process, but it's not really a process. It was so cool going into the studio, listening for songs, and making music, and having a great time!"

-Chuck Dauphin

From www.andygibson.com
Mon, 12 Dec 2011 11:05:00 -0800http://www.andygibson.com/news/54551Andy Gibson to Star on GAC’s Christmas In The Black Hills Holiday Special

Big & Rich and a few of their friends recently took over the old west town of Deadwood, a national historic landmark located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, for a holiday music special.
